You're STILL You

March is a complicated month.
It brings a lot of sadness, with a lot of happiness for my family.
This week I am missing my dad. He would have turned 52 on Sunday, and
Thursday marks the 4th year that he has been gone.

On one of my field trips to capital reef.

Although he is not here physically, I know he is with us every day .
I feel him around me all the time.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and the MANY great memories we have.
He was a great dad, and I know his 3 girls were the highlight of his life.

One of possibly a BILLION photos of him, like this with a baby in his arms.
(this one is me)

One of my favorite places to fall asleep.

He was often found with "loads" of children.
Whether in the trailer on the 4-wheeler, on tubes behind the truck, or inside the hovercraft,
They were always there.

Him and his favorite "little brown buddy"

Always up for an adventure

He was definately a dork

Definately was...

But we love him

And we will always miss him!

Love you Dad!

Good thing I don't have on my makeup yet...

You three are so lucky to have such a great dad.

I KNOW that he is around you still. He is proud of you and cheering you on.

He wants the best for you and wants you to be happy.

He was so great to me. The baby picture reminded me today that on the day Parker was born in Provo after the ambulance ride, he was the FIRST one to call me and ask how everything was. He had a HUGE heart.

You all inherited that quality.

I'm praying for you three this week. That you will be strong. That it might start to hurt just a little less...

and yes..I will COMPLETELY agree that he was a dork! :)

This is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. I had not seen most of those pictures and it was very good for me to look at them now. We wish this month and this day especially would get easier, but we want to keep the wonderful memories we have vivid.

I am so thankful for you three girls. I know that he is so proud of you all, as we are. We love you.

OK, so this really isn't your Mom mom, just Auntie M not knowing how to change my identity from Jenny's blog-just a little handicapped that's all... Thanks for the invite to your blog I love reading about the lives and musings of those we love.  You wrote the sweetest tribute to your dad.  We all know he's with us.  He's definintely not the type to be sitting around twiddling his thumbs (maybe popping them and everyone elses).  You know he IS being creative and taking advantage of his spiritedness. Your mom asked me a while ago to find the poem I wrote for you girls and I just remembered and found it last night.  So I'm sending it now.

  Bear Hugs and Baby Toes

Whenever I see a mischievious grin, twinkling eyes, or tiny baby toes- Whenever I hear                   a belly-busting-laugh a silly joke, a child laugh or cry- Whenever I get a big bear hug, a kiss on the cheek, or a squeeze-till-it-hurts- Whenever it's March,
or even Springtime a birthday party, or Happy Easter-

Whenever I drink a glass of ice water, open a bottle of mustard, or put on a bandana-

Whenever I see Batman in ink, a beautiful girl in a hardware store -

Whenever I hear the voice of an angel, giggles from tickles, a laugh-until-you-cry-

Whenever I feel
the sincereity of a kind heart,
or soft hands that know
just where to snip,
I fondly remember big-hearted, sentimental and tender, fun-loving Matt- Now and forever a protector,
a guardian, an angel armed
with bullhorn, taser and siren-

Watching over his precious
amazing and beautiful, ever courageous,
Katie, Julie and Haley.

I love you guys! You do your dad proud!
